Sacred Vision Silk Scarf

In the history of Armenia, two significant events were fundamental in strengthening national identity. In 301, King Trdat III accepted Christianity as the national religion, and under the direction of St. Gregory, the Illuminator, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin was built. Little over one hundred years later, Mesrop Mashots invented the Armenian alphabet, in 405. The intent was to translate the Holy Bible into Armenian, to Armenianize the church ritual, disseminate Armenian-language Christian literature, and to promote a spiritual revival by establishing both a cultural and ideological independence. Our design for the “Sacred Vision” includes the elements of these two important events, giving the scarf a historical meaning.
